Mission:

The mission of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is the "Protection and Service of Our Citizens in a Professional and Compassionate Manner and the efficient and correct delivery of Law Enforcement services to the community". The people that make up the Clay County Sheriff’s Office are your friends, neighbors, and relatives-we are a part of your community! With community support, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office will continue preparing for the future through partnerships, professionalism, performance and pride while consistently completing our daily goals and objectives.

Detention Division

The Mission of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division is to provide service to the community by insuring the safe and secure incarceration of persons taken into confinement by order of a qualified court or otherwise allowed by law.
Confinement will be humane and constitutional a mandated by the United States Constitution, Federal and State Statutes, and applicable case law. The Sheriff of Clay County upholds the philosophy of confinement being punishment in and of itself.
Rules of conduct and behavior of inmates, as promulgated by the American Correctional Association, will be observed. Professionally trained personnel will staff the division.
Every effort shall be made to meet both the physical and mental needs of all inmates. They shall be offered the opportunity to participate in various programs to encourage self-rehabilitation, growth, and positive reintegration into society.

Emergency Management Division

Our Mission is to work in conjunction with the citizens of Clay County to effectively prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against all hazards and disasters.

Field Operations Division

The Field Operations Division consists of Road Patrol, Investigations Unit, Traffic Safety and Enforcement Unit, and K-9 Unit.
The Field Operations Division’s mission is to provide law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of Clay County and to cities in Clay County that do not have their own police departments. We provide assistance to any law enforcement agency in Clay County that has a need for such assistance. We provide dispatching services for many agencies and fire departments. We investigate crimes that occur in unincorporated Clay County and assist other agencies in investigations. We enforce traffic laws in Clay County. We provide a trained drug dog for the use of our own agency, and any agency that requests it. We maintain the criminal reports for the department.
